Comparison of the Czech education system with the alternative program Step by Step

This final thesis is concerned with the comparison of Czech traditional school and schools using the alternative program Step by Step. The goal is to present the different approaches towards the structure of the classes, the classroom equipment, the cooperation between the pupils, teacher and parents. Another goal is to compare differences between those two types of school, according to the information collected in the questionnaire. This thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part´s presenting the program Step by Step and its usage in the Czech Republic. The basic specific points like self-image and activity centers. The traditional school will be also presented. The practical part will be focused on the traditional schools and those using the alternative program Step by Step. They will be compared in the questionnaires. The answers will be filled by teachers based on their experience and points of view
Colaboration between school and family in primary school

COOPERATION OF FAMILY AND SMALL SCHOOL WITH COMPOSITE CLASSES The thesis deals with the cooperation of family and small school with composite classes. The theoretical section deals with the typology and changes in family, family and school partnership, ideal setting of cooperation between family and school. It examines programmes of schools with area of cooperation being developed (Step by step and Parents are welcome). It looks for starting points that might be used at home school. The research section deals with a description of a small school with composite classes, where the graduant teaches. It also examines specificities of this school, the typology of students' families and at the same time it's also mapping the cooperation between school and family according to the programme Parents are welcome. It's trying to find the strategies for improving the cooperation with family. This is followed by the assessment from the viewpoints of author, parents, colleagues and a conclusions.
Development of cooperation between family and nursery school

This thesis deals with the forms of cooperation between parents and nursery school. The theoretical part focuses on family and school as educational institutions, their definition, historical development and the related current trends in cooperation between them. It defines the forms of cooperation in the core curriculum and is looking for inspiring elements of this strategy and cooperation in innovative educational programs, "Step by Step" and "Health Promoting Schools" The empiric part presents the research that focuses on development cooperation nursery schools and families. Communication of School and Family in Primary Education

The thesis deals with communication between family and school in primary education. It's aim is to formulate proposals for more efficient communication with parents. The thesis has theoretical and practical - experimental part. In the practical part key concepts are being characterized. Also the thesis interprets the grounding of the term "parents" in the curricular documents and legislative. The main focus has been placed on initiatives and programmes which ephasise school-family cooperation, mostly the project Parents welcome and educational program Step by Step. The forms of such cooperation between subjects and their mutuall expectations have been described as well. The experimental part examines parent's satisfaction and used communication strategies at school where the experimental investigation took place. The research uses both qualitative and quantitative methods - mostly survey and deep interviews. The results of this research were analyzed. According to the analysis, suggestions for an effective communication with parents have been provided. Attitude of teachers and parents toward inclusive education at Step by Step program

The topic of this graduate thesis is the inclusive education programme Step by Step. More specifically, the work focuses on the attitude of the involved teachers and parents to this phenomenon. The theoretical bases are focused on the definition of the terminologically unclear terms of inclusion and integration, they outline their historical and legislative development as well as the overall intention and summarize the main components which influence its high-quality course. One part of the thesis also focuses on the characteristics of the participants and the base of this education, and also on the psychological aspects influencing the attitude of an individual. Comparison of Family and Kindergarten's Cooperation in conception of main educational stream and of Step by Step

The author compares approaches to co-operation with the family as applied in mainstream kindergartens and alternative kindergartens with the Step by Step programme. The thesis aims to determine the extent to which the forms and intensity of communication and co-operation between family and kindergarten differ depending on the kindergarten's educational programme, and identify the strengths and weaknesses of mutual communication. In the theoretical section, the author outlines the importance of co-operation between family and kindergarten for the development of preschool children, the possible forms of such co-operation and the rules laid down by applicable legal regulations and curricular documents, and describes how this co- operation is understood in the Step by Step programme. In the empirical section, the author uses a mixed research strategy combining quantitative and qualitative research to answer the research questions. Implementation of ulticultural education in the Step by Step program in primary education

This diploma thesis focuses on implementation of multicultural education in the Step by Step program in primary education. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first one defines the basic concepts that apply to multicultural education. In addition, it also mentions officially recognised national minorities in the Czech Republic and the evolution of the number of foreigners residing on or territory. Further this chapter explains prejudice and stereotypes. The second chapter focuses on multicultural education as one of the cross-section modules in Framework Czech Educational Program. In this part, the thesis characterizes the cross-section theme and describes the thematic circuits and possible approaches to teaching. The third chapter discusses the educational program Step by Step and details its core parts. In the practical part of the work, qualitative research is described in detail, carried out with the fifth grade of Elementary School Petřiny - Sever, which follows the educational program Step by Step. This diploma thesis deals with cooperation between family and school. The aim of the theoretical part is to analyse the primary foreign sources of the programme Step by Step in the domain of the cooperation between family and school, especially the programme HEAD START. Next aim is to compare the methods and forms of cooperation in the United States of America and the Czech Republic, especially in one elementary school. The practical part presents action research which is focused on the reflection of my own work experience. It describes and evaluates the cooperation between family and the school where the author of this diploma thesis works - the evaluation is based on the tool "Competent Educators of the 21st Century: ISSA's Definition of Quality Pedagogy".
